upcoming show

Hey folks!
This piece of mine will be included in a show "THE PERSONAL IS POLITICAL" at the Koehnline Museum of Art!

The upcoming show deals with the transformative power of women's art. :)  My new series of embroideries draws on images of women as fetish objects and utilizes a traditional female medium.   This address the role of women themselves in the subjegation of other women and how socially acceptable it is.

The Personal is Political: The Transformative Power of Women's Art (A Juried Exhibition of Art by Women)
October 4 - 26, 2012
Sponsored by the Koehnline Museum of Art and the Women's and Gender Studies Program at Oakton Community College.

Ever since Kate Millet coined the phrase "the personal is political" in her landmark 1970 work Sexual Politics, the words have continued to resonate in contemporary feminism. In this election year, women artists will be challenged to create works that engage with and respond to the multiple meanings in Millet’s words.

15 artists from Klein Artists Works host a group exhibition
Chicago -The first crew of artists from Paul Klein's new and much lauded training center, Klein Artists Works, will be staging an exhibition of their works at The Charnel House!
Members of the group include professors, working and emerging artists, their ages span generations and their media is diverse. Having all come together and started developing a community under the guidance of Paul Klein, we've decided to put on a show.
"Our group consists of uniquely divergent artists, who, because of our participation in Paul's course, are now connected through mutual respect and support for one another. Initially brough together by the independant goal to better our respective careers, this show celebrates the interdependent nature of doing just that." said artist and group member Jill Pope
